Homeowner Spring Cleaning Checklist
Here is a helpful Homeowner Spring Cleaning Checklist now that Spring has Sprung! Whether you are considering selling your home in the near future or not, these are some helpful tips to help maintain your home. It is always a great idea to prevent wear and tear as much as possible as well as make repairs before they turn into major problems.

Clean & Declutter
The first step for any project is caffeine and a plan. Turn up your favorite NSYNC or Shania Twain songs. And just get started. Start with one drawer, one shelf, or one corner. Try to go from ceiling to floor and left to right to help keep you on track.
- Grab a Trash Bag and walk through the house. Be brutal. Old receipts and papers, food wrappers, etc.
- Declutter. Declutter. Declutter.
- Kitchen Cabinets – do we need ALL the coffee cups or 4 waffle makers?
- Drawers – throw away pens that don’t work and keep all the chargers labeled and in one place. Find some drawer dividers to help keep everything at the tips of your fingers.
- Closet – if it hasn’t been worn in over a year, donate it. Bless someone else with clothes that are no longer serving you. Ask an honest friend to help you.
- The Garage – Empty the garage completely and clean it. Only keep the things you actually need.
- Bathroom – Keep items that you use on a daily basis. Donate the rest to a women’s shelter.
- Deep Clean
- Dust Up High & Down Low – Ceiling Fans, Tops of Cabinets, Shelves, Crown Molding, Blinds, Baseboards, Under the Beds, and Everything in Between
- Empty the Refrigerator and Freezer. Wipe everything down and then place clear cling wrap to line the shelves. Throw away anything expired. Place healthier options in the line of sight.
- Clean windows inside and out with water and vinegar.
- Clean All Appliances – Big and Small
- Clean the Filters on the Washing Machine & Dishwasher
- Clean Light Fixtures
- Wash Linens, Sofa Cushions, Pillows, Comforters, Curtains

- Replace Light Bulbs
- Replace Air Filters
- Replace Batteries in Smoke & CO2 Detectors
- Replace the Filters in the Dishwasher and Refrigerator
- Get Roof Inspected
- Inspect Sprinkler System
- Replace Screen Windows if Needed
- Inspect Insulation in the Attic
- Inspect all Steps and Handrails
